How to open/Close period in FA in Oracle Apps R12

Hi everybody,

I need to know how to open/close period in FA. Actually we dont want to close period in FA through running depriciation and then closing the period and then opening next period. We want to open next period without closing the current period. Is it possible in FA Oracle Apps R12.

Dear Satya,

Fixed Asset is a bit peculiar than other modules .... Like other modules you cannot have more than one period open in Fixed Asset Module. Same way opening and closing are not two different actions in this module. By closing one period, system automatically opens the other period. The only way to close the period is by checking the box at the time of running the depreciation and there is no other way of closing the period in FA.
Irrespective of Release 11 or Release 12, this remains the same, as it is a design of the module.

Karthikeyan is right. You can't have more than one open period in FA.

We want to open next period without closing the current period

Can you also post what is the business reason (except for manual errors) for keeping the old periods open?
