DBA Role in Data Conversion or Migration

I found best practices of data conversion at http://bit.ly/DataConversion using Google and some points on DBAs role in data migration but still not able to know if there is anything that a DBA need to do (and not technical expert) in data migration as mentioned in the above url. Thoughts??
