Restarting Managers

Post by swting »

Hi,

During application of certain patches, we are frequently asked to restart the Internal Manager, Inventory Manager, INV RPC Manager, etc. I do have the following relevant questions:

1. Can we restart the managers mentioned above through application interface Concurrent > Manager > Administer?
2. In Concurrent > Manager > Administer, when I select Internal Manager, the Restart button was disabled, why was it so? Is there any prerequisite to restart Internal Manager?
3. Besides restart through application interface, are there any scripts to restart the managers at Linux command prompt?

Hi Fanny,

Thanks for your inputs. Did you mean by restarting internal manager, it automatically restarts other managers?

Also, when we are talking about restarting managers, is this done by choosing Restart button in Concurrent > Manager > Administer?

Hi

You can restart the services either through OAM or from linux.

The scripts are located in the following path $COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/<SID_hostname>/

You can start/stop each service like form, reports, apache seperately.
Mostly it will be apache or ICM that we have to restart after any updates.

Hope this helps.

Hi Senthil,

When you mentioned to restart the service through OAM, is it under Application Services under Site Map?

Hi,
try to stop all the Services

1. All Applications Services
2. All Listers Services
3. Database Services

Stop all the services and Try to Restart your System.

Hope this will work out as I tried this way it worked for me in Vision Instance.

TIA
