What does the term "on note" means?

Hi,
I am trying to understand bank statement and accounting enteries in oracle financial.

I came across the term on note which is not making much sense to me as i dont have accounting background.

"The bank collected on note on behalf of the XYZ Company.."

Can anyone please explain me the meaning of this term
