What is the functional usage of assigning reporting currency to a Ledger Book and assigning the balancing segment values to legal entity while creating ledger book through accounting set up manager in R12.

Has any one used the new Management segment qualifier introduced in the Release 12 (R12). I would like to know it's usage and what all reports use this qualifier to extract the information. From the end user perspective what is the advantage of using this qualifier.
