Could any one please explain me what exactly MRP Explosion means?

1> I am not sure of MRP Explosion means, generally the the word "explosion" is associated with BOM explosion.

2> Simply means - the Bill that is assigned to manufacture an item - is opened and MRP reads through the multiple levels of the Bill and lists the components and QTY required to manufacture the Item.

MRP Explosion reffers to the core logc of MRP : starting from independent demand ( sales orders, forecasts) and time-phase explode the required quantities through the manufactured item's BOM . For each node in the BOM a netting is done between the required quantity and the available to suply quantity from this item . Only required quantities not satisfied by the available supply continue to be exploded .

This is a very basic explanation, there are many fine points depending on whether this is Process or Discrete manufacturing , MRP or ASCP and the setting of many controls .
