Oracle APEX for EBS Question and Answers

Post by admin »

Our community member of Oracle APEX asked few questions and best of my knowledge here are responses to each of them,

1. Database or APEX License will be required for APEX separate installation?
>> There is no APEX separate license and it is part of Oracle Database Standard and Enterprise License. For testing and training apex.oracle.com or Cloud always free can be used.

2. Why Apex?
>> It is a Web based and for Web Oracle Development tool which can be leanred and used by an existing Oracle Developer or can be easily learned if you know SQL and PLSQL. Same application can be used in Android and iOS like mobile application as PWA is available.

3. Implications if development is done on APEX and not on EBS
>> EBS OAF is EBS version specific and very few developers available and development is time consuming. Providing support is also not an easy task you need to have expertise of OAF. Oracle APEX can be integrated with EBS and even look and feel will be same like EBS OAF pages.

4. How many License of Database will be required?
>> It depends on your requirements while 1 database can be used for 1 APEX instance.

5. Possibility of Integrations with EBS and Cloud
>> Yes you can integrate as for integration you need to use dblink so APEX will have no challenge using dblinks.

6. Separate User Login with role management
>> You can use separate or you can use integrate with EBS so same EBS user and password will authenticate user while LDAP etc also available.

7. Availability of standard Workflows for Approvals
>> Workflows without diagram are there in APEX while there are free third party tools which have this functionality like Flows4Apex

8. Bandwidth requirement for Using APEX
>> It is Http based so only text has to use bandwidth so less than Oracle forms.

9. Prepare Architecture Diagram – Technical Architecture
>> It can be googled.

10. Role Management in APEX in case of Active Directory
>> It has LDAP feature so you can get authenticated from AD.
