Hi everyone!
If you're using an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) account and have Oracle APEX in an Autonomous Database, this article is for you. Whenever a new version of Oracle APEX is released, you might notice a message about Available Updates. This notification ensures that you're aware of the latest enhancements and features that you can take advantage of.
In this article, we'll walk you through what this update message looks like, why it's important, and how you can apply the updates to keep your database and applications running smoothly with the latest improvements. Check out the example in the picture to see what the update notification looks like.
As per message displayed if you are instance administrator can take action and available options for him/her are,
1. Waiting for the date mentioned to be auto upgraded which is default after 45 days of release date.
2. Administrator can deffer it to 90 days.
3. Immediate proceed to upgrade using Administration services and the steps are explained in this topic below.
Following screen is showing the current version of Oracle APEX which is 23.2.3 while new available is Oracle APEX 24.1 which is the first release with AI feature.
To start upgrade now logout and login as an ADMIN of the Oracle APEX instance by clicking Administration Services on the login page as shown below.
After login ad ADMIN you will find a button Upgrade Now as shown in the following screen shot,
Click green button Upgrade Now and then again Upgrade Now button on the following screen.
It took approximiately 1 hour and 10 in my case to complete the upgrade and cloud pages information took further some time may be Oracle has scheduled to update pages/dashboard. It got upgraded to 24.1.0 and same steps will be once any patch is released.
