Hi,
I am assigning budget to my GL. I want to assign Parent Account to Master Budget Organization and its Child account to Detail Budget Organizaion.
I have defined following Parent Child hierarchy in expense
400 ? EXPENSE -1000
401- Traveling Expense
402-Stationary Expense
403-Meal Expense
I want that 400 should be assigned to Master Budget Organization with rs.X and I want to distribute different amount among childs.
How can I do this?
Can we assign budget amount to Parent Account? Currently the system is not displaying parent account in Enter Amount form.
Regards,
Junaid.
How to define Parent Account in Budgeting?
Hi All,
I have found my answer of this question from metalink and the answer is shown below:
From DOC ID:263952.1
* fact: Oracle General Ledger
* fact: GLXBDENT - Enter Budget Amounts/Journals
* symptom: Attempting to choose Parent account and not in List of values
* change: Entering new budget
* cause: You cannot enter values to parent accounts as values are not stored in parent accounts
fix:
Enter budget values in child value accounts.
But u can do fund checking on parent level by using summary account & roll up group: for help try to access Doc ID:265011.1
the description of the doc is written below
The information in this article applies to:
Oracle General Ledger - Version: 11.5.8
This problem can occur on any platform.
Goal
To Set up Budgetary control at Summary level in General Ledger.
Fix
1.Create a rollup group 'RG' ( Set Up>Financiasl>Flexfields>Groups)
2.Attach it to a Parent Value 'P' having child Values 'C1' and 'C2'
( Set Up>Financials>Flexfields>Values)
3.Define a Budget and a Budget Organisation ( Test and Test Org respectively)
(Budgets>Define>Budget)
(Budgets>Define>Organisation)
4.Attach the two child values in the Range assignments to "Test Org" with the funds check level as Advisory.
(Budgets>Define>Organisation, query the Organisation, click on Ranges)
5.Run the Maintain Budget Organisation Program.
6.Create a Budget Journal for account combination involving C1 and C2 ( Eg. $100 and 200).
7.Create a Summary Template 'D.RG.D' with funds check level as Absolute
(SetUp>Accounts>Summary)
(Specify Absolute budgetary control for the summary template or templates that have the highest level of summarization.).
8.If you pass a Journal for C1 with an amount of $150 also , the funds reservation will not fail.
The amount taken into consideration is $300 ( total value for Childs under P).
9.However after posting the above Journal, if even $175 worth Journal is made against C2 , it will funds reservation as the remaining funds will be only $150!!
When an amount is posted on an account, the system will check in which summary templates the account is included (by means of the rollup group). .
