logical disk partition not showing on RAC instal

Post by jos »

RAC on NT?
Why the logical disk partition not showing on the OCR installation screen.

In the ?Disk Configuration ? OCR? is not showing the ?Disk Number, Partition #, Size??

I did try to install RAC on NT, through oracle student guide.
CPU ? P4, RAM ? 1 GB, two Hard drives, two NIC.
Installed Win Server 2003 in C drive.
Create four logical partitions on the D drive ? 100 MB, 50 MB, 11GB, 11GB.
Deselect ? Write cache enabled on both drive C and D.
Configured IP ? Public and Privet, and edit the /hosts file.
DNS suffix ?oracle.com? in Public.

The second system PII, installed with Win Server 2000. other configurations are same.

Both systems are connected with net cable, and communicating well ? ping IP.

Then start with Oracle 10g Cluster Ready Services CD. ??..
Select Disk Formatting Options:
? (selected) Do not format any logical drives - Next
Configuration ? Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR):
??.. It is empty ??
OCR is not showing the ?Disk Number, Partition #, Size? from the logical partitions D drive. Why?

Please give me solution to install RAC on NT?

Thanks.

Hi there

You didn't mentioned anything about shared storage device. What type of storage you are sharing between 2 nodes. It could be SAN/NAS or ASM.

If you are using SAN then 3rd party Filesystem would be implemented. If you prefer to use Oracle Cluster FS for CSS+OCR then you need to format one partition with the OCFS and rest of them should be raw partitions to be used by ASM Filesystem for DATAFILES etc.

The link below could be helpful to you.
