Costing Method

Post by ojksa »

Dears

We have Oracle Ebs 11i, and we are going to implement multi org. but for us very important to have the cost over all our showroom's and subinventory as one cost. at the same time we need to control all kind of transfers between all subinventories.
So if we go for Avg cost and multi org we will not get one cost over all the org's. and if we go for one org and subinventories we cant control the transfers in between specially Intransit and we cant control serials cause our item is fully controlled by serial number.
Please any body can advice?

Hi ojksa

For your request I know the 2 solutions are very good & has some side effects in other ways.

You can decide which is more priority for you, the same cost for all organization or the control the transfer between sub-inventories.

I think the first solution is very critical for you & using customized reports to make the control for the transfer between sub-inventories.

You must discuss the 2 options with your business team & decide which solution are very critical for your company & remember some times you couldn't get all solutions you need so you must decide which solution you can used & the other make workaround .

Thanks

Hi,

1. Why dont you go for Standars Costing? The cost will be same across organizations in this case.

2. If you want to use Average Costing, you can define one inventory organization and many subinventories as branches and track the trnafer of goods through Move Order Transfer where you can track the serial number.

This also caters as a work around solution for intransit as

-we can create move order from one subinventory
-can print a transfer document to transfer the goods to branches.
-once received in the branch, they can perform transact move order to complete the transaction.

hope this would help
