Multi Org Doubt

Post by kommineni7 »

Hi,

we are into 11i and having one OU/LE/ONE Inv. Now our customer is asking to create another OU but he wants to use the same Inventory org for the new OU also. My quesitons over here is

1. Is it possible - ONE INV vs Multiple OU's
2. Is there any functionalities which will effect if we use same INV with multiple OU's

Please help me also, to get some notes or metalink notes on this..

Quick response will highly appreciated...

Thanks,
Venkatesh

Hi Venkatesh,

I am yenuganti.. i hope i am good at multi org

In any multi org follows from top to down is on the basis of 1:m but not m:1

so for one INV Org Should have only one Operating Unit

And one OU has many INV Org's

Hope this will give you the ans..
if any thing not correct plz let me correct

Thanks & Regards,
Yenuganti

Hi,

No, you can not share an Inventory Organization Between Operating Unit.

Inventory Organization. it is assigned to a set of books, a legal entity organization, an operating unit organization, and a location.

An item master organization is used for item number maintenance and
validation. This master organization serves as a data repository storing items
and numerous data defaults. On-hand balances, inventory
movements, and other on-going inventory activities are not performed in an item
master organization.

Generally, the master organization is used as the
validation organization for Purchasing and Order Entry. It is recommended
that a single item master organization be defined, even in multiple organization, multiple sets of books environments

All other transaction related activity is done at Inventory Organization which pointing to a particular Operating Unit. Where all reporting can be done.

Thanks & Regards,
Anjireddy.
