organization hierarchy in MOAC security profile

Hi,

I am trying to create a security profile for MOAC. If i select option 'Secure organizations by organization hierarchy or and organization list' it enables the organization hierarchy field where I can select the organization hierarchy. I would like to know what is the importance of organization hierarchy in the security profile and how it benfits the user from accessing the Operating Units.
