Dear All,
I have to start writing Document on General Ledger for R12 so before starting I thought to get feedback from all the members,

> Any specific scenarios need to be covered but keeping in mind that the readers would be first time reader of any Financial document. Like I should cover single currency or multi....etc

> Is the pattern of existing document is ok or there should be some improvement if so then your suggestion please.

Thanks

Hi Admin,
What are the scenarios that you covered in this R12 tutorial. Did you cover multi-org scenarios and multi-currency?

Did you get any help from the guy who is implementing R12 at the moment. I believe practical experience is very important. What is the budget you have for your R/D?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Dear Yemfola,
The document caters one Primary Ledger (Currency USD) and one secondary Ledger (Currency Pak Rupee). Now as you asked about scenarios then you can check my post in the same topic Posted - 22/04/2007 : 11:13:56 PM in which I asked member to provide if any specific scenario need to be captured but no reply.

Secondly I would request to draft a scenario then on that we can produce a document or any article. As this document is read by majority of member who are quite new and those are 90 to 95 percent so would not like it to be more complicated. But at the same time agree with you so send me the draft of your scenario.

Third you have asked about the budget so it is flexible as I have to procure hardware and all depends on donations. If all members will donate $1 hope not burden then it will enough.

Yes this is our join effort.

Please let me know if still any further query.

Thanks

Hi admin,
Thank you for your humble reply. I am not working at the moment as I am in graduate school and at the same time trying to prepare for OCP but I will send some donations as I am happy with your spirit.

Is it possible to look at the RCD on R12 and use it to prepare the tutorial taking into account the new features such as the following:

Accounting Setup manager
Data Security
Auditability
Oracle Subledger Accounting
Journal Entry Setups
Date Effective Application Accounting Definition
Multiple Accounting Representations
Multi-Org Access Control
Multi-Org Security Profile Preferences
Enhanced Multi-Org Reporting
Multi-Org Integration with Accounting Setup Manager

I am going to send my donation before the day ends. I will try my best to support you especially when I go back to work by the grace of God. I will encourage members of this forum to donate towards this good cause. It is pricessless unless you want to go Oracle university and pay thru your noise which many of us cannot afford.

Thanks for your understanding and humility again.

Hi admin,
I have downloaded R12 and review it. The user interface looks different from R11i. The ledger has replace the SOB. Thanks for your time to do this.
I used to do some training for OU in the time past before I went to Graduate school for my PG and I believe scenarios will benefit this forum members as most are new according to your word.

1. Pls you could give a brief explaination why you are doing what you are doing. Why are we creating primary ledger and secondary ledger? Why are we using USD and pakistan rupies? What is the relationship between them?

2. Add another company to India or Pakistan so you have two companies in one country. maybe one in Lahore with Islamabad make it two.

3. Another company in the US that will serve as the headquater and US operations office.

4. Another company in UK.
All the companies are subsidiaries of the US company

Now we must have more than one chart of accounts for demostration
We must have four currencies: Indian rupies, Pakistan rupies, US dollars and British sterling Pounds.

There must be consolidation account of all the subsidiaries and the HQ which is in dollars

This scenarios will help to demostrate multi-currency, more than one ledger, consolidation, intercompanies transactons etc. You can use this scenario for subledgers as well.

If you could do this with some of your intelligent and experienced friends over there, you will put the tool to get a job and perform on many people 's hands.

As a Oracle functional trainer, I will say this will be a priceless jewell and many will not hestitate to contribute financially. You can make the minimum to be $10. You can add some tools to it as you did in 11i such as SQL loader to move transactions from legacy to oracle 12, Adi, dataloader and DBI as you did in payable. For $10 as minimum, people will contribute to this forum.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Dear Yemfola,
I really appreciate your point of view and 100% agreed. Now we have to decide that these scenarios should be covered,

1- Web Conference
If we select this option then we have to prepare presentation for this so better to get all scenarios.

2- Take it as a separate project
Here I would like to develop a virtual team as this is not job of a single person as certain documentation will involve in this. In this way we will also help us in workforce development. Now we can ask the members if they want to become part of this team they should donate certain amount.

3- I would also say instead of writing document we can arrange a setup where this instance will be live with setup and we will conduct trainings on this instance as well.

Please share your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks

Hi admin,

thank you for the response. You can do whatever you think will be perfect to achieve this. The most important thing is the training documentation such as student guide with snapshot and also answering the following questions of what, why, where, when, and how. If this is prepared, people can download it after donating to you, then they can practice using solution beacon or any other instance available. If there is room for web conferencing or any virtual training, that is good but the documentation is very important with life implementation scenarios as I said above demostrating Multi-org, multi- currency, intercompany, consolidation locally and globally and some other important practical life set up and functions of all financial modules. People MUST donate for your time and hard work. As you said, speak to some of your friends around you that have experience of implementation to help. I will not be able to help in preparing the documentation but I could donate more to this good cause. It is good you are look for moderators now, I believe more people will join soon.

Thanks again for the hard work.
