R12 new Segment Quaifiers

Can someone explain the purpose of 'Management Segment' and the 'Secondary Tracking Segment' qualifiers that has been introduced in R12. If possible please give example of some business cases to make the understanding more clear.

Hi,

Management Segment is used for the management purpose. Now they can track and take the reports or customise them as per their reporting on the basis of this segment.

Second tracking segement is the second balancing segment.

Can you please elaborate more on Management segment with example, Like how this is used? Are there any seeded reports for this segment. a part from reporting where else this can be used and how? Have you worked with this new segment if yes can you please share your experiences.

Hi,

If you want to perform management reporting and secure read and write access to segment values , designate one of your segments to be
the management segment. This segment can be any segment, except the balancing segment, natural account segment, or intercompany segment. Typically, you should choose a segment that has management responsibility, such as the department, cost center, or line of business.
