How to update old Employee Code

Version R12/11i? = 11.5.10.2
Instance PROD/TEST/VIS? = PROD
Module? = HRMS
OS? = Windows 2003 32bit
we update the wrong employee code for some employee but these codes already linked with other employee so how we can update the correct employee ID.
