ERP instance 11.5.10 does not open on my laptop

I have a server with installed instance of ERP 11.5.10 on RHL. Installation done as per Erpstuff Administration doc version4
Instance boots up correctly without any errors. On the server I can open the apps and login. The instance is configured as vision.test.com with 192.168.0.1.
I am able to ping the instance from/with my laptop, laptop NIC configured as 192.168.0.2.
I have set windows/system32/drivers/etc/notes to 192.168.0.1 to vision.test.com
But when I enter http://vision.test.com:8000/ in IE the instance does not open. It says "internet explorer cannot display page the webpage"
I have cleared the cache several times. Laptop OS is vista sp1.
Need help in trouble shooting this error
