Diff B/w Multi Orgn' set up nd single org'n set up

Can someone explain me the differene between single organization set up and multi org'n set up.
Does it mean that in single orgn- we will have only one legal entity and one SOB where as in Multi org'n we can have more than one legal entity and SOB

Single operation set up mean under one LE only 1 OU,
LE---LG---OU
IN MO: mean under LE ---OU1 ---OU2 (2 Operating unit ) or more.
