Adding custom error mesggages thorugh OE_MSG_PUB

Hi All,
My rquirement is during sales order lines updation based on custom validation i have to add the custom error mesasges to the tables OE_PROCESSING_MSGS OE_PROCESSING_MSGS_TL thorugh OE_MSG_PUB API.How can we acheive this.Can we do direct inserts to these tables? Can any one can share any sample code.
