Hi all,
I am confusing with organization , masterorganization, child oraginzation
and sub inventory in inventory module
what is difference
Multi Organization Structure
Hello ,
In a Inventory module you are going to create some Organizations.
Among these Organizations you have to make one particualr Organization as Master Organization for Item definitions etc.
And rest all of the organizations are child organizations.
Let us take an example from the point of item creation.
Suppose you have One Operating Unit <font color="red"><b>OU1</b></font id="red">.
Under this OU1 you have created four Organizations i.e.,
<font color="red"><b>Org1
Org2
Org3
Org4</b></font id="red">
And each organization has <font color="red"><b>2 departments</b></font id="red">.
Now you are creating Items for your organizations.
It will be cumbersome for you to create an Item under these four organizations.
To avoid this what you will do is while creating your organizations you will define one organization as Master Organization.
In our case let us say Org1 is master organization.
As soon as you define Org1 as master organization ,rest all other organizations i.e.,Org2,Org3 and Org4 will become child organizations.
Now you will just define an Item under Org1 which is a master Organization.
Then you will just assign this item to all of its child organizations by clicking the assing button in the item definition field.
The departments under these respective organizations can be treated as Subinventories.
Since we have 2 departments for each organization, total we are going to create 8 subinventories in inventory module.
I have explained purely relating Inventory to Particualr Organization structure. If you still have any queries then bounce it back to the forum.

Hi
Thank you for your reply. I decided to ask the question so that you can clarify your statement as we have many newbies in this forum. Everyone of us should try to answer questions or provide solutions with simplicity and understanding. You should also use the technical words as often as possible. I will get in touch with admin so that we can add the inv org and sub inv to the organisation structure. This will help many to understand it more.
We will try also to give more life examples of this organisation structures especially the inventory and sub inv.
Regards
