Hi

Upto 11.5.10, the Basis of accounting either Accrual or Cash and Accrual with Encumbrance accounting or Cash with Encumbrance accounting are decided at Application level like AP and AR.

Now they Brought this as part of defining set of books itself in R12 and you can define your own accounting convention also.

This is what is referred to as 4th C (Accounting Convention)

If you look at Payable option set up you do not find the Primary accounting and Secondary accounting etc., This is now become part of Set of Books definition
