Transfer of asset

hi,
can we transfer the asset frm one division to another division on back date.i.e during the month of oct-07 ,can we take the effect on 15th jul 07. Plz guide me with navigation.we have defined 365 days for depricaition but in case of transfer of asset the system is taking the effective date last of the current month.why it is. if we want to transfer the asset on 15 jul.the effect date should be 15th.
