Hi,

It is something difficult to change from single org structure to lmulti org structure. Generally Single org structure is like this

One Business Group -- One Legal Entity -- One Operating Unit -- One Inv Org

Where as for Multi org structure pls find the attachment

Hi Manmohan,

Could you share why you came up with an org structure based on region. Is it because that is the way your reporting heirarchy works or the management wants it that way. Iam trying to find out how people design org structure for oracle.

Your anwer could help throw more light.

Thanks
Sam

Hi Thinktank,

Generally we use this Organisation hierarchy based on client requirement. If the client spread his business across diff countries it is not possible to bring them under one roof. Coz their Chart of Accounts are differ from one country to other.

To create this org structure first we need to define Business group, legal entity, operating unit and inventory org in Inventory Responsibility through Setup - Organisation - Organisation navigation.

After creating these there are some more setups we need to do. After that we need to create org structure in HR responsibility through workstructure - organisation - Hierarchy. Here v need do define which legal entity comes under which business group and which operating unit comes under which legal entity and which inv org comes under which operating unit.

After this through Workstructure - Organisation - Diagrammer navigation U can able to see the Org structure which was build by u through above navigation. For this u need select Ur org structure and then click on Copy Hierarchy then u can able see ur org structure in a diagram format.

Hi , Thanks for the inputs.

Does that mean , that for a non HRMS based financial/distribution implementation too, we have to come up with the structures after we define the LE, OU, Inv Org etc in the define 'Organization' form.

Please tell me this structure is primarily impacts what areas.

Regards
Sam

Hi Thinktank,

It is not like that. Generally we build structure to know how the info and work flow in the org. Multiorg structure is nothing but Single or multiple business groups with single r multi Legal entities, Operating Units and Inventory orgs.

We bulid the structure to make sure data security between diff Legal Entities,Operating units and Inventory org.

Thanks for the clarification.

Now when we look up the multiorg user guide of oracle, they have a classic org sturcture with the Eastern Operations and Western division etc Legal Entity , then a BG for US and UK.

In defining our organization do we also define parent child relationship between the organizations and the child values all roll up to the parent ?

Is that hierarchy more to say how the financial results rollup or it is the management reporting hierarchy ?
