Oracle Applications table cleaning

I have a few tables growing quite large. The data in the tables may be up to 5 years old. I was wondering if these tables could be cleaned up a bit without the users noticing missing data or without auditors bugging me about it...
I'll save you the details, but we have rowcounts in the hundreds of millions for some of these tables...
