R12 Setup

Post by rajib.banerjee »

Dear All,
I have some queries relating to initial setup regarding R12 They are as follows:-

Can we attach more than One Legal Entity to One Primary Ledger?

If the answer to the above question is Yes then if we define Operating Units OU1 and OU2 for Legal Entities LE 1 and LE 2 respectively and attach both the OUs and LEs to One Primary Ledger, how does relation between OU1 & LE1 and OU2 & LE2 be established?

Please help

Thanks

Yes, we can attach more than one legal entity to one primary ledger.... if you have a chance to recollect the multi org structure... you could see that BG > Ledger > Legal Entity > Operating unit > Inventory Org...
1 BG = Many Ledgers
1 Ledger = Many Legal entity
1 LE = Many Operating unit
( But the vice versa is not possible.... ie 1 Ledger cannot point to more than one Business Group , 1 LE cannot point to more than one Ledger, 1 Operating unit cannot point to more than one Legal Entity)

The relation ship between OU and LE are created when you are defining Operating Unit...
There are 2 ways in which an operating unit can be created in rel 12...
1) Using Accounting Setup Manager
2) Using Organisation creation forms..
In the both the methods when you are creating an operating unit... it will ask you to select the legal entity for which this operating unit relates too...
