This document explains about the different Key Flexfields available in Oracle Payroll and their purpose and functionality.
Cost Allocation Key Flexfield: The purpose of the Cost Allocation KFF is to track the Staff Payroll Costs. Cost Allocation of the different elements is done based on the element links created and the qualifiers defined for the flexfield. Qualifiers determine the appearance of the individual segments at the different costing levels. The different Payroll Costing levels are explained in the table below.
Entry Level Windows Purpose of Entry
Payroll Payroll Identifies company or set of books to which all costs from this payroll should go.
Link Element Link Identifies a GL account to debit and a balancing account to credit, or for deductions, an account to credit and a balancing account to debit. Other entries can identify any other accounts into which run results of the element should go.
Organization Organization Identifies structures such as cost centers against which to charge the payroll costs of employees in the organization.
Assignment Assignment Costing Identifies structures such as cost centers and product lines against which to regularly charge payroll costs of this assignment.
Element Entry Element Entries Batch Lines Identifies structures such as cost centers and product lines against which to charge payroll costs of an employee assignment for a period.
To view the Cost Allocation Flexfield ( At Payroll Level ) :
Navigator: Singapore HRMS Manager
Navigate To: Payroll > Description
Query ( First press F11, type in part of the payroll name ie %IDA% and execute the query by using Ctrl + F11 ) for the Payroll defined - IDA Payroll. Navigate to the Costing field and click on it. The Costing flexfield Structure opens with the segments which were enabled at the Payroll Level.
The following screen should appear :
To view the Cost Allocation Flexfield ( At Organization Level ) :
Navigator: Singapore HRMS Manager
Navigate To: Work structure > Organization > Description
Query ( First press F11, type in part of an organization name and execute the query by using Ctrl + F11 ) Navigate to the Others Tab and select Costing information from the list of values. The Costing flexfield Structure opens with the segments which were enabled at the Organization Level.
The following screen should appear :
To view the Cost Allocation Flexfield ( At Link Level ) :
Navigator: Singapore HRMS Manager
Navigate To: Total Compensation > Basic > Link
Query ( First press F11, type in part of an element name and execute the query by using Ctrl + F11 ) Navigate to the Costing field and click on it. The Costing flexfield Structure opens with the segments which were enabled at the Link Level.
The following screen should appear :

Navigate To: People Enter & Maintain > Assignment > Others > Costing
Query an employee and navigate to the Assignment screen. Click the Others tab and select Costing. This opens up the Assignment Costing window and on clicking the Cost code field the flexfield Structure opens with the segments which were enabled at the Assignment Level.

To view the Cost Allocation Flexfield ( At Element Entry Level ) :
Navigator: Singapore HRMS Manager
Navigate To: People Enter & Maintain > Assignment > Entries
Query an employee and navigate to the Assignment screen. Click on the Entries button. Click on the Costing field against the element entry. The flexfield Structure opens with the segments which were enabled at the Element Entry Level.
The following screen should appear :
People Group Key Flexfield : The People Group KFF appears on the assignment screen and it is used to identify groups of people to whom some common characteristics may apply. This flexfield is also used in Payroll for control purposes in determining eligibility to elements.
To view the People Group Flexfield :
Navigator: Singapore HRMS Manager
Navigate To: People Enter & Maintain > Assignment
Query an employee and navigate to the Assignment screen. Click on the Group field. The People Group flexfield Structure opens with the segments. You can enter the values as required.
The following screen should appear :
Bank Details Key Flexfield : The Bank Details Key Flexfield holds legislation specific bank account information. The Bank Details structure that you see is determined by the legislation of your Business Group. The Bank details flexfield will be used while defining the Organizational Payment method and the Personal Payment methods for the employee.
To view the Bank Details Flexfield :

Navigate To: People Enter & Maintain > Assignment > Others > Pay Method
Query an employee and navigate to the Assignment screen. Click on the Others tab and select Pay Method from the LOV. This opens the Employee Personal Payment Method screen. Click on the Bank Details field.
