We are going to implement Oracle EBS R12 with a wide module set (Finanacial, Supply Chain Mgmt, HR, Projects, Discrete Manufacturing)
We are a relatively big organization with initial count of ERP users of about 240 users in different dept.
I need to know the factors that drive the operating system selection.
Can any body help with an inclusive article
Thanks, regards[:)]

Here are my personal observations,

Windows
Pros
- People already working on windows so they feel comfortable.
- Finding experts of OS available in market very easy.

Cons
- Oracle is not developing application on windows but they are porting.
- You need third party application to make windows unix compatible.
- You will have to install Visual C++, MKS, GNU
- You will face CCM issue very frequent as linking of so many apps can be issue.
- You shutdown service and it is possible you will not be able to start it.
- Virtual Memory will be any issue.
- Virus friendly and Anti virus consumes extensive memory.

Linux/Unix
Pros
- Oracle support likes customers as they support Linux.
- No third party application need to be installed.
- CCM issues very minor if any.
- Closing/bakup is easy.
- Very few viruses
- Tight OS security.

Cons
- Extra efforts required to learn command line.
- Less experts available in market and who are expert they charge good amount.

May be my observations are not similar to all others so others comments are welcome.
