Operating unit scenarios

Dear All, We are in R12.1.1

We are into transpotation Business, we have the brances across the states ,,I can say have banches more than 10,000

we have one and only legal entity and ledger...

Coming O.U.s
Mgt decided each branch as One OU,like this we have so many branches and also trying to expand business in future,
Client want to open and close all the periods GL and SL level at each branch level,and also knows the each branch wise profit and Loss. So that we have decided to define branch as Operating Unit.

Can you share your ideas..,what is Pros and Cons if we can customise Open/close at GL and Subledger level.

First, please check your business if you want all branched with the same accounting structure?
If yes, so we can define 1 legal entity then define 1 OU.

Second, what the purpose of these branches, it used like inventory organization or each branch has the own business?

So you need the check for the branches purpose or branches business then decide how many OU will created.
