Hi Satya,

It is not possible to do partial payments for prepayment either in 11i or r12 .

Application of prepayment aganist invoices or Po will be avaialable only when the Invoice status is Available. This status can be achieved only when the prepayment is fully paid.

Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Hi,

I think you can pay partially a Prepayment Invoice, make a payment of type 'Manual'. The status of the invoice will show unpaid and will not be available for application until its fully paid.

Best Regards,
Rajiv

Accounting is "Recording of Transactions". Transaction is an "Event of financial nature". When there is a happening related to financial implication , then those happenings are to be recorded. This is the definition of accounting.

The unfortunate part is..

In case of recording prepayment invoice, there is no any happening of financial nature. The prepayment it self does not fit in Accounting definition. But, still we do it because Oracle does not allow payment without invoice. The prepayment invoice creation is creation of your feeling to pay advance ( it is a notional invoice) . You should feel only for the amount that you are going to pay. Why do you feel beyond your payment? .

The prepayment invoice itself is funny, then in that, partial payment is more funny.

I always dream and feel if oracle gives the facility of making payment directly without any prep invoice , then it will be good. Of course, the payment type can be "PREPAYMENT"
