Report Manager R12

Hi,
I am new to the Report Manager
So please let me know whats the difference between report manager and BI publisher
If I want to run a report in Report Manager
For that what are the requirements? Does it have to be in XML format
I tried to run the report General Ledger - (132 Char) in report maanger, but i was not able to select the name in the find window.
When I checked that in the XML Publisher Administrator responsibility I was able to find a template called General Ledger - (132 Char) (XML).
Why cant I run the report in report manager???
