Retropay from a given date only

Dear All,
I have an issue with Retropay.Some existing elements wants to be retroactive now. I have setup all and retropay working fine. But client wants the retropay to start effective from a specific date only (say Sep-2012). I.E. eventhough they run retropay starting from 2011, system should ignore the back dated changes for these elements before Sep2012 since they have already done some manual misc payments for those changes. But any backdated changes after sep 2012 only wants to be retroactive. Eventhough I updated the base element's Retropay element with effect from Sep-2012, the retropay gives results for all other previous changes also.
(They want retropay to run from 2011 onwards for some other elements). They dont want these elements/assignments only to run seperately. (We are using Retropay by element in R12)
If any idea will be very helpful.
